Privacy Policy

LAW'S CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE LIMITED (operator of 8Ucloud, "we") is the data user under this policy and takes the protection of your personal data seriously. This policy is drawn up under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486, the "PDPO") of the Hong Kong SAR and its six Data Protection Principles, and explains how we collect, use, retain, transfer and protect your personal data when you visit this website and use our services. By using our website and services you confirm you have read and understood this policy.

1. Personal data we collect

To provide and maintain our services we may collect the following categories of personal data:

1. Account data: username, password, email address and phone number provided at registration;

2. Identity and verification data: to meet registry, regulatory or anti-money-laundering requirements we may collect your name, company name, ID number and address;

3. Transaction data: order records, billing address, invoice details and payment records processed by third-party payment providers (we never store your full card number or payment password);

4. Technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, access logs, cookie identifiers and other information generated automatically while you use the services;

5. Communication data: content you provide when contacting us via tickets, email or instant messaging (e.g. Telegram).

2. Purposes of collection and use

Under Data Protection Principles 1 and 3, we collect and use your personal data only for the following purposes directly related to our business:

1. Creating and managing your account, verifying identity, and providing, maintaining and improving our products and services;

2. Processing orders, payments, renewals, refunds, invoices and related financial matters;

3. Completing service processes that require submission to third parties, such as domain registration, SSL issuance and server provisioning;

4. Sending necessary notices about service changes, expiry reminders, security alerts and technical support;

5. Preventing fraud, abuse and illegal activity and protecting network and information security;

6. Complying with applicable laws, regulations and regulatory requirements.

We will not use your personal data for purposes inconsistent with the above without your consent.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

This website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your language preference, protect your account and analyze site usage. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some features (such as login) may then not work properly.

4. Transfer and disclosure of data

We do not sell your personal data. We may transfer or disclose necessary personal data to third parties only in the following cases:

1. Service providers: third parties we must engage to deliver the service, such as domain registries and registrars, certificate authorities (CAs), payment providers, SMS and email providers, limited to what is necessary;

2. Legal requirements: to comply with laws, court orders or lawful requests from government or regulators;

3. Protection of rights: to prevent fraud and protect the lawful rights and safety of us, our users or the public;

4. With your consent: in other cases where you have given explicit consent.

We require these third parties to handle your personal data to standards no lower than this policy.

5. Cross-border data transfer

Our servers and some service providers may be located outside Hong Kong. Where your personal data must be transferred outside Hong Kong to provide the service, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives protection comparable to the PDPO.

6. Data security

Under Data Protection Principle 4, we take reasonable and practicable technical and organizational measures — including HTTPS encryption, hashed password storage, access control, firewalls and intrusion protection — to prevent unauthorized or accidental access, processing, erasure, loss or use of personal data.

However, no Internet transmission is completely secure. Please keep your account and password safe and never share them.

7. Data retention

Under Data Protection Principle 2, we retain your personal data no longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. When your account is closed or the data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it, subject to legal and compliance requirements (such as financial and tax record keeping).

8. Direct marketing

If we intend to use your personal data for direct marketing (e.g. promotions or new product news), we will obtain your consent first. You may ask us at any time, free of charge, to stop using your data for direct marketing, and we will do so upon receiving your request.

9. Your rights: access and correction

Under the PDPO and Data Protection Principle 6, you have the right to:

1. Ask whether we hold your personal data and request access to it;

2. Request correction of inaccurate personal data;

3. Ask us to explain the kinds of data we hold and the main purposes for which they are used.

You can make these requests using the contact details at the end of this policy. We may charge a reasonable fee for access requests, and will respond within 40 days as required by law.

10. Third-party links

This website may contain links to third-party websites with their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; please review their policies before submitting personal data.

11. Minors

Our services are intended for users with full legal capacity. If you are a minor, please use the services and provide personal data only under the guidance of a guardian.
