With security risks across the hosting industry receiving increased attention, 8Ucloud has updated its product password handling to reduce the risk associated with centralized password storage. We no longer retain retrievable customer product passwords for long-term use or provide a feature to view original passwords.

Keep your product passwords safe

This change covers cloud servers, bare metal servers, web hosting FTP accounts, databases and business email. Set your password as prompted when provisioning, installing or resetting a service, and keep it safe. Use a trusted password manager and a unique password for each service. Avoid reusing your platform login password or passwords from other websites.

Temporary retention for service tasks

Some provisioning, installation, reinstallation and password reset operations require queuing or retries. Passwords needed for these tasks may be retained temporarily and are cleared according to task status and retention limits. They are no longer kept as long-term, retrievable service credentials.

Your current passwords and services are unaffected

Removing a password copy from our platform does not change the actual password on your server, FTP account, database or mailbox, nor does it stop your service. Continue using the password you previously set.

If you forget a password

We cannot look up or recover the original password. Use the relevant product's change or reset password option to set a new one. If no such option is available, submit a support ticket. After changing a database, FTP or email password, update the connection settings in your applications, websites or email clients. Do not reinstall a system merely to recover a password, as this may affect existing data.

Separate control panel passwords

Standalone control panel passwords are managed separately from product passwords. Enter the panel through your user center and use Password Settings in the left navigation to set a panel password if needed. We retain only a one-way password verification hash for this login. If you have not set one, continue accessing the panel through your user center.

Please keep your passwords safe. Product passwords cannot be viewed on our platform.Reducing password retention is one part of security. Please also keep your systems updated, restrict access and maintain data backups.
